Skybox Imaging Captures World's First High-Resolution, HD Video of Earth from Space

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Skybox Imaging (Skybox) announced today the release of the world’s first high-resolution, high-definition video of Earth taken by a commercial remote sensing satellite. These videos were taken by SkySat-1, the first of Skybox’s planned constellation of 24 satellites, and showcase high-resolution views of Tokyo, Bangkok, Baltimore, Las Vegas, and Aleppo, Syria. The video clips have not yet been calibrated or tuned.

Skybox Announces Strategic Partnership with Japan Space Imaging

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Skybox Imaging (Skybox), an emerging provider of timely high-resolution satellite imagery and full motion video, today announced it has entered into a multi-year, strategic partnership with Japan Space Imaging (JSI), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, to provide high-resolution imagery and full motion commercial video to the Japanese market. The agreement, subject to U.S. regulatory approval, will enable JSI to directly task, downlink and receive imagery from Skybox's constellation of microsatellites on a reliable and frequent basis.

Skybox Accelerates Constellation Deployment

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Skybox Imaging (Skybox), an emerging provider of timely satellite imagery and data services, today announced it is adding an imaging satellite, SkySat-2, to its fleet during 2013 via a newly available secondary launch opportunity aboard a Soyuz-Fregat. Skybox has secured this launch opportunity by contracting with JSC Glavkosmos, a secondary payload launch provider within the Russian Federal Space Program that works on behalf of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos).

Skybox Imaging Completes Significant Testing Milestone Preceding Its First Satellite and Product Launch

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Skybox Imaging (Skybox) today announced the company has successfully completed the simulated space environmental test of its first high-resolution imaging microsatellite.During the 16-day test campaign conducted at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., the satellite was placed in a thermal vacuum chamber that accurately simulated the thermal and environmental conditions of low Earth orbit. Skybox evaluated the spacecraft’s performance in a variety of operational modes.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Skybox Imaging, an early-stage provider of satellite imagery, video, and big data analytics, today announced that it has raised $70 million in Series C financing led by Canaan Partners and Norwest Venture Partners. They join existing investors Khosla Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners, bringing the total amount raised to date to $91 million.
